Laser Skin Treatment

Laser skin treatment at our Darien, CT, practice has several applications. Dr. Fredric Newman, who performs several of the treatments himself, uses this technology to rejuvenate the skin, reduce scarring and stretch marks, remove unwanted hair, and improve the appearance of wrinkles. Lasers stimulate the natural healing response of the skin, and can often achieve dramatic results in as little as one appointment.

Advanced lasers allow us to provide a range of treatments that are effective, virtually painless, and result in little to no downtime.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

The natural aging process and environmental factors such as sun exposure take a toll on skin. They can result in dullness, fine lines, sun or age spots, or an uneven texture. During treatment, Dr. Newman will use our fractionated erbium laser to resurface the skin by removing the upper, damaged layers. This not only reveals healthier, younger-looking skin, but also stimulates the production of collagen, which gives skin youthful volume and elasticity. Laser resurfacing can also be used to remove precancerous cells and other growths.

Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is a safe and effective way to permanently reduce unwanted hair by destroying hairs at the root. During treatment, a nurse will simply guide the handheld device over your leg, underarm, bikini line, or other area. Multiple treatments are typically needed to achieve the best results, but effects are long-lasting.

Scar Treatment

Scarring can result from acne, injury, and certain types of skin conditions. Our fractionated erbium laser spurs collagen production to dramatically reduce the appearance of scars. It is important to understand that laser therapy cannot completely eliminate scars, but it can provide smoother skin with a more even tone and texture.

Stretch Mark Treatment

Stretch marks can result from weight fluctuations or pregnancy. These blemishes are actually a type of scarring, and respond to laser treatment just as other types of scars do. Stretch mark treatment may require several sessions, but patients can expect to see a significant improvement.

Wrinkle Treatment

Wrinkles are an unavoidable part of the aging process, but laser treatment can reduce their depth and severity. Laser wrinkle treatment is often used to address nasolabial folds (laugh lines) and improve wrinkles on other areas of the face. A laser  heats collagen under the surface of the skin, which contracts and tightens the overlying tissue. This results in smoother, firmer skin. Patients may require repeated treatments, but can expect to achieve their final results in under a month.
