Regain Youthful Shape with a Breast Lift
Gravity, pregnancy, nursing, and the simple progression of age can cause the breasts to sag or droop. A breast lift, or mastopexy, can restore youthful shape and “perkiness” to the breasts. Dr. Fredric Newman in Darien, CT, specializes in this common form of breast surgery, and he can re-contour your breasts to enhance and rejuvenate your figure.
What is a Breast Lift?
Breast lift surgery reduces sagging in the breasts by eliminating excess skin and tightening the remainder for firmer, more youthful results. This is a very commonly requested cosmetic enhancement procedure among women, especially after pregnancy and nursing.
A breast lift can be performed as an individual surgery for women who want to reverse the effects of childbearing and natural sagging, or can be combined with other options. At The Aesthetic Surgery Center, breast lift surgeries are often combined with breast augmentation for women who seek a a fuller, more voluptuous bust line. For a dramatic, rejuvenating transformation, some patients choose to pursue Dr. Newman's complete mommy makeover.
Breast Lift Procedure
During the breast lift procedure, Dr. Newman will begin by making an incision starting around the areola, straight down, and then in the crease under the breast. The breast tissue is then reshaped, and excess skin is removed. The skin that remains is tightened, and the nipple repositioned. As a result, the breasts will look fuller and shapelier, adding a contoured, more youthful appearance.
Dr. Newman offers an alternative breast lift procedure for patients with smaller breasts or minor sagging, one that is less invasive than a traditional breast lift. The “doughnut” mastopexy involves removing a circular area of skin surrounding the areola. The remaining skin is then tightened and stitched together to complete the procedure. The “doughnut” mastopexy is desirable because of its reduced scarring.
