Connecticut and New York – Skin Resurfacing with Microdermabrasion

The office of Dr. Fredric Newman in Fairfield County, Connecticut, which also serves Westchester County, New York, offers microdermabrasion to help improve the health, texture, and appearance of a patient's skin. This unique skin rejuvenation treatment gently exfoliates the patient's skin in order to treat fine lines and wrinkles, superficial pigmentation, blotchy-dull skin, sun-damaged skin, and stretch marks. Microdermabrasion can be performed on its own or in conjunction with other surgical or non-surgical treatments.

How Microdermabrasion Works

Microdermabrasion is a skin rejuvenation technique used for the treatment of fine lines and wrinkles, superficial pigmentation, blotchy or dull skin, sun-damaged skin, and stretch marks. Microdermabrasion works by gently exfoliating the skin with aluminum oxide crystals to remove the upper layers of your skin and stimulate cell turnover. Healthier skin cells are brought to the surface, resulting in improved texture, tone, and elasticity.

During the microdermabrasion procedure, which is performed at our office in Darien, Connecticut near New York, Dr. Fredric Newman's aesthetician gently moves the microdermabrasion device back and forth over the skin. The machine emits abrasive crystals through the hand-piece, which is passed over the face until all areas in need of treatment have been covered. As this process is carried out, a vacuum removes the used crystals and the dead skin that is being eliminated.

Though some people are nervous about the procedure, the microdermabrasion tool is designed in a way that prevents it from creating heat or discomfort in the patient. The treatment typically lasts between 30 and 60 minutes.

Recovery Following Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is completely non-invasive, meaning that there is virtually no downtime following the completion of the treatment. Though there may be some redness following microdermabrasion, this pigmentation should fade relatively quickly and should reveal refreshed, rejuvenated skin. Should you have any questions prior to or following your microdermabrasion treatment, you can contact our office serving Connecticut and New York to address your concerns.
