Connecticut and New York: Forehead Lift Information
One of the simplest and most effective facial cosmetic surgery procedures offered at The Aesthetic Surgery Center of Connecticut near New York is the forehead lift, also called brow lift. Many patients notice sagging forehead skin, a furrowed brow, frown lines, or drooping eyebrows as they age. A forehead lift can help restore a young and fresh look to the face. You can further enhance the results of a brow lift by combining the surgery with other facial treatments including facelift, rhinoplasty, BOTOX® injections, lip augmentation, and eyelid surgery. Forehead Lift Procedure
As performed at our Connecticut and New York-area office, the forehead lift procedure can successfully eliminate horizontal lines in the forehead, tighten skin that overhangs the eyes, and give you a much more refreshed appearance. Dr. Newman accomplishes these results by pulling the skin upward. In addition, excess tissue is removed during the brow lift procedure and underlying muscles may be tightened.
In most cases, plastic surgeon Fredric Newman will begin forehead lift surgery by making an incision that starts at ear level and stretches across the forehead, creating a headphone-like pattern. Dr. Newman takes care to make the incision well behind your hairline so that the scar will not be visible. Working through this incision, Dr. Newman will delicately lift the skin of the forehead so that he can remove underlying tissue and, if necessary, modify the muscles of the forehead. He may also elevate the eyebrows and trim away excess skin to create a smoother, more youthful appearance. After making the necessary modifications, Dr. Newman will close the incision with stitches or clips. Depending on your case, he may cover the incision with gauze and wrap your head in a protective bandage.
Brow Lift Recovery
Following your brow lift, you may feel numbness or discomfort around the incision, both of which sensations are temporary and treatable with prescription medication. Dr. Newman will recommend that you keep your head elevated for a few days after forehead lift surgery in order to minimize swelling. Any swelling you experience should dissipate in a few weeks. You will need to return to our Connecticut office near New York one or two days after your brow lift to have bandages removed if they were placed after your surgery.
After a period of rest and relaxation, most patients are able to return to work in approximately a week. However, vigorous physical activity should be avoided for several weeks after a forehead lift. Most of the signs of your brow lift, including bruising and swelling, will be gone in about three weeks.
